There were a lot of cannons used in the civil war one of the most popular ones was The twelve-pound cannon known as the Napoleon wich was a smoothbore cannon used during the war. it was widely admired because it was so safe for the soldiers that were shooting the cannon. The Napoleon was the cast bronze cannon used by Americans. In early 1863 Robert E. Lee sent all the 6 pound guns to be melted and casted into Napoleons. The copper mines in Chattanooga were lost to the union forces and the Confederacy started producing iron Napoleons.
Rifles used in the Civil War include the Springfield rifle, the Lorenz rifle, the Colt revolving rifle, the Smith carbine, the Spencer repeating rifle, the Burnside carbine, the Tarpley carbine, the Whitworth rifle. The rifles were not accurate and did not hit most of the time, if someone had a lot of kills it was just dumb luck.
